In support of the government's target of reaching net zero emission (NZE) in 2060, PT Transportasi Gas Indonesia (TGI) has signed a cooperation agreement with Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE) on the use of pipelines to transport hydrogen to Singapore.
The cooperation agreement was signed by Bpk. A.A.P. Bagus Putra, President Director of TGI, and Bpk. Dannif Danusaputro, Chief Executive Officer of Pertamina NRE, witnessed directly by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Indonesia (Menteri ESDM RI), Bpk. Arifin Tasrif, at Indo EBTKE Conex 2023 at ICE BSD on Wednesday, 12 July 2023.
Hydrogen will be the key, or game changer, in new and renewable energy, with the potential to make a major contribution to reducing emissions, particularly for sectors that are difficult to decarbonise (hard-to-abate industry), such as oil refining, heavy industry, marine transport and other heavy transport. Although the development of hydrogen is new in Indonesia, the potential of hydrogen in Indonesia as a low-emission fuel is fundamentally very large. By using clean hydrogen to replace fossil energy, carbon emissions can be reduced.
